Meet Our Teachers

KRISTA JUDERJAHN

Krista Juderjahn, a native of Cleveland, Ohio, began her dance training at the age of five at the Mary Kay Manning Dance Studios.  During her competition years she received multiple scholarships, including one from Dance Masters of Ohio. Krista is a graduate of Columbia College Chicago where she received her Bachelor of Arts degree in Dance with concentrations in Performance and Teaching.  While studying at Columbia she had the privilege to work with many Chicago area artists on faculty including Margi Cole (Artistic Director of The Dance COLEctive), Paige Cunningham, Carrie Hanson (Artistic Director of The Seldoms), Darrell Jones, Joanna Rosenthal (Artistic Director of Same Planet Different World)  and Trae Turner (Artistic Director of Boom Crack! Dance Company).  Upon graduation she joined Inaside Chicago Dance where she danced as a Performing Apprentice for their 2012-2013 season. Krista has since performed in multiple independent works for Choreographer’s Carnival Chicago as well as Urbanite Midwest.  She is currently a member of The Puzzle League, a Chicago based hip hop crew.  The Puzzle League is three time reigning champions of Prelude Midwest and two time champions of World of Dance.  She has most recently joined CODA, another Chicago based hip hop crew to broaden her training and performance opportunities.

Tamara Manning-Kabat is excited to be a part of the new Ignite Dance Studio Team! Formerly Artistic Director of the Mary Kay Manning Dance Studio, Tammy has 30 years dance experience. Her love is working with students of all ages, levels and dance genres. She is a graduate of Akron University with a B.A. in dance. She was on and coached the dance team for the Cleveland Crunch. Tammy is a member of Dance Masters of Ohio and America where she continues her dance education. Tammy has three children with her husband Mark.
JENNIFER BUCHNER

Jen began her dance training at Pontecorvo Ballet Studios in Dayton, Ohio. While at PBS, she performed in many classical and contemporary ballets with Ballet de Jeunesse (now Gem City Ballet), the pre-professional ballet company affiliated with PBS. She continued her studies at Ohio University, earning a BFA in Modern Dance Performance/Choreography in 2001. Jennifer joined the MKM staff in 2001, and is excited to continue to teach and inspire students at Ignite Dance Studio.
EMILY WESTFALL

Emily Westfall has been dancing for over 15 years and started competing with Mary Kay Manning’s company at the age of 9. Growing up, she trained in many styles of dance, including ballet, tap, jazz, contemporary, modern, hip-hop, and pointe. While competing, she received various awards and scholarships from competitions such as VIP, Nexstar, Dance Masters of Ohio, and Dance Explosion. Emily has also taken classes from many prestigious choreographers, including Stacey Tookey, Travis Wall, Mia Michaels, Kim McSwain, and Stacy Valentino. She danced with the Ohio State University’s Dance Team before she transferred to The University of Akron as a Dance Major and Business Minor. She is working toward her Bachelor of Arts Degree in Dance with a Business Cognate. Emily says that being a part of the Ignite Dance Company is such an honor and she’s excited to share her passion for dance with her students this year!
KIM HARBAUGH
KIM HARBAUGHTeacher
Kim started her dance training at the age of 5 in the areas of Tap, Ballet, and Acrobatics. She began her teaching career in the fall of 1993, and hasn’t stopped since. Instruction, and praise, from a highly regarded Cleveland Ballet member is one of her favorite things to brag about. She’s been involved in numerous shows at the IX Center, the Home and Garden Show, several mall shows, and various performances at smaller venues. Her love of dance also brought her to become a part of, and choreograph for, the Waring Ballroom Dance Group. Currently, her abilities have expanded to Jazz, Hip Hop, Lyrical, Ballet, Tap, and of course, Acro, which is very close to her heart.  Kim holds a National Safety Certification from USA Gymnastics. When she’s not teaching dance, she spends her time writing, as she is a published author, of two contemporary romance novels. She attributes her success to her family, which has been very supportive through all of her careers.
SHELBI ZELLER

Dance has been a huge part of Shelbi’s life for 17 years.  She will graduate from The University of Akron in December 2014 with a Middle Level Education degree for grades 4-9 math and science, and a minor in Dance. Prior to studying dance in college, she danced at Mary Kay Manning Dance Studios, and competed at many competitions with Company teams. Shelbi also was a member of the Brunswick Dancing Devils high school dance team. Shelbi loves working with children and sharing her passion for dance!
KATIE McGAHA

Katie McGaha is a 2nd year apprentice with Inlet Dance Theatre of Cleveland.  Originally from Tennessee, Katie graduated Summa Cum Laude from Middle Tennessee State University with a degree in Theatre/Dance focus.  She has traveled to Europe and China to perform and study modern dance and has participated in summer dance intensives at Interlochen Center for the Arts in Michigan, Alambradodanza in Italy, and the Joffrey Jazz and Contemporary Summer Intensive in Florida.  Katie is a former competitive dancer with training in pointe, ballet, contemporary, modern, acro, jazz, hip hop, tap and musical theatre.  Currently, she rehearses daily and performs regularly with Inlet Dance Theatre–an internationally known, Cleveland-based modern dance company. 
VICKIE JACKSON
VICKIE JACKSONTeacher
Vickie is married with two children and serves as a Girl Scout leader in the Buckeye School System.  A former competitive dancer with Ceccheti ballet training, she started dancing at age 4.  In addition to ballet, her dance studies included tap, jazz, hip hop and lyrical.  During her childhood years, Vickie considered her fellow dancers her family.  She is eager to expand her dance family at Ignite. “Dance has a way of bonding people together and teaches hard work.  I hope to pass on those things to my students.”
